Regardless of your state of mind, whether you feel ill, or not, therapy is a place to explore who you are and why. Without a balanced sense of self and a calm mind, it might be difficult to enjoy life. If you are worried about your mental wellbeing or simply feel that you need some self balance, I invite you to work with me. Sometimes talking things through, uncovers new perspective and ultimately help us change, whatever we struggle with.
Types of services
These are confidential, once weekly counselling sessions which last 50 minutes. We would see each other regularly, in my therapy room on a specific day and at the time agreed during the first meeting. I offer a psychodynamic way of working, which means, that I assist you in gaining an understanding of how and why your past affects your current life. Personal therapy is suitable for anyone who thinks they could benefit from this type of work.
All relationships go awry at some point. Sometimes the resentment towards someone we used to love never seems to go away. I invite you to a confidential, safe space, where you can both explore the trouble underlying your partnership.
This type of work is suitable for groups of people who would like to gain insight into a certain subject, like 'stress management' or 'the art of assertiveness', and perhaps learn some tips or techniques. Workshops are in a form of lectures with elements of discussion and sometimes - acting out.
My name is Joanna Tobitt and I am a BPC Accredited and
BACP Registered Counsellor (MBACP).
I work with adults, experiencing mild to severe psychological problems.
I see clients in my private practice in Welwyn Garden City and North London.
For the past few years, alongside my practice as a Counsellor, I worked as an HCA for Hertfordshire Mental Health Trust, caring for patients at psychiatric and recovery units. In the past, I assisted clients in experiencing psychological issues, such as depression, anxiety, relationship breakdowns, identity issues, low self-esteem, and helped people who experienced neglect and abuse in childhood.
I follow a strict BPC and BACP code of conduct, use regular supervision and am fully insured.
